DUCK The Duck and the Duckling were originally designed by Hans Bølling in 1959. His main source of inspiration was an incident that took place in a part of Copenhagen called Frederiksberg. A policeman stopped busy city traffic when he saw a duck family trying to get across the street in order to let them pass. This idyllic moment was inspirational for much of the Danish population, including Bølling, who felt so inspired he recreated the Duck and the Duckling out of teak wood. Using his architectural approach, Bølling designed both a refined and a timeless duck family with a smooth, clean finish. The Duck and the Duckling are handmade in teak wood, just as they were in 1959. Their heads are turnable, which makes it possible for them to change expression and their posture. In this way the mother duck can look after her waddling ducklings.
